Scholz promised to continue supplying weapons to Ukraine but emphasized that it is imperative to avoid direct conflict with Russia that could escalate into nuclear war. “I will do everything to avoid escalation that could lead to the Third World War. There cannot be a nuclear war,” he said.

“Avoiding escalation towards NATO is my top priority,” he noted.
