Final Models of the Statue of Christ: Sarukyan Releases Video

The authors whose designs progressed to the next phase of the monumental statue-complex of Jesus Christ competition presented their works with new solutions and in a new light.

“Regardless of the results, I thank all the sculptors for their caring and responsible approach,” noted Gagik Sarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party and the author of the mega project.

Renowned masters, professional sculptors, and artists have worked with absolute responsibility and attention to detail, as, according to the authors, it must become the new calling card of Armenia and unite Christians.

Gagik Sarukyan's idea has brought together renowned sculptors from all corners of the world. They each presented their versions and the underlying concept one by one. Each one is unique and distinct.

Thus, on April 25, the best works will be put up for public discussion. The commission has an important task before that—to select the best among about twenty submissions and present them to the public, who will have 7 days to vote.

Simultaneously, the commission will be working. “The decision will be made as follows: 50 percent of the vote will be based on citizens’ opinions, and 50 percent on the commission’s. The winning project and the author’s name will finally be announced on May 5,” said Ruben-Hovhannisyan, the coordinator of the competition commission for the monumental statue-complex of Jesus Christ.
