Extraordinary Incident in Vanadzor Prison: Deputy Heads of Departments Sustain Injuries

On April 20th, an extraordinary incident occurred at the Vanadzor penitentiary facility of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia. Around 19:50, the Vanadzor Medical Center alerted the Taroni division of the Vanadzor police, reporting that a citizen had been admitted with a diagnosis of "blunt trauma to the left chest, soft tissue contusion."

According to Shamshyan.com, police established that the injured individual was 33-year-old Aram A., a resident of Vanadzor. It was revealed that at approximately 18:30 on the same day, Gevorg B., an inmate in cell number 32 of the Vanadzor prison, had struck Aram A. with his hand. As per reports, Aram A. works as a deputy head of the operational department at the Vanadzor penitentiary.

On April 21st, around 00:30, the Vanadzor emergency medical service also reported to the Taroni division of the Vanadzor police that a medical team had responded to a call at the Vanadzor penitentiary. They provided medical assistance to 34-year-old Yeghishe K., an employee of the Vanadzor penitentiary, who sustained injuries described as "abrasions on the right wrist and forearm." Yeghishe K. informed the police that these injuries occurred during an altercation with 22-year-old inmate Mher K., who is also a resident of Vanadzor, in cell number 32.

According to photojournalistic sources, Yeghishe K. serves as the deputy head of the security department at the Vanadzor penitentiary.
