US Imposes New Sanctions on Russia's Central Bank First Deputy Governor and 28 Others

The US Treasury Department has included Russia's Central Bank First Deputy Governor Ksenia Yudaeva, Central Bank Vice President Mikhail Alekseev, and Deputy Finance Minister Vladimir Kolichev in its sanctions list. In addition to them, 27 other individuals and 40 legal entities have also been blacklisted, including Transcapitalbank and Investtorgbank, as reported by Kommersant.

Among those sanctioned are Mikhail Zadornov, the chairman of the board of Otkritie, and several other top managers of the bank. Ksenia Yudaeva, Mikhail Alekseev, and Vladimir Kolichev are included in the sanctions due to their connections with Otkritie. They were members of the bank's supervisory board, but the bank has not disclosed who is currently part of it.

The Treasury Department has demanded that all financial transactions with Transcapitalbank cease by May 20. Transactions with companies owned by the bank are also prohibited. However, an exception is made for transactions to and from Afghanistan, to support efforts aimed at addressing the humanitarian crisis. In this case, the ban will take effect from October 20.
