Tense Situation in Armavir Province: Residents of Nor Armavir and Nalbandyan Villages Block Roads
A tense situation has arisen in Armavir Province. From early morning, residents of Nor Armavir and Nalbandyan villages have blocked the road connecting the villages to Armavir in a sign of protest, rightly demanding that the government listen to them and solve the problem for the benefit of the villagers.
According to Shamshyan.com, as of 21:30, farmers in Nor Armavir and Nalbandyan continue their struggle. In conversations with the site, the farmers expressed, “For 30 years, we have traveled on pothole-filled roads. For 30 years, we have been waiting with tears in our eyes for those roads to be paved. Only in the last 2 years did we get quality asphalt in Nor Armavir, but it turns out our joy was short-lived. In Nalbandyan village, the roads remind one of the Stone Age, and in the destruction of those roads, the name of National Assembly member ‘Novo’ Nahapet Gevorgyan should be at the top of the list.
Because of his sand mining operations, trucks loaded with 60-70 tons of sand seem to eat away at the asphalt. It’s as if Novo is a bulldozer for asphalt. We have appealed and requested countless times for action to be taken, but our voices have echoed in the desert. Just a few days ago, one of his company’s trucks destroyed the water main in Nalbandyan village, and for 6 days now, water has been flowing freely, creating a huge hole about 3-4 meters deep. Yet neither the provincial administration nor the staff of the mayor of the enlarged community of Metsamor have been gracious enough to come and fix this hole.
Two days ago, a child fell into this huge water hole on a bicycle. We miraculously saved the child. If God hadn’t intervened, the child could have died. Who would be held accountable? Novo? The governor? Or the mayor of the enlarged community of Metsamor...?”
