Valery Osipyan: "Let's Close This Topic Once and For All, No One Has Passed Anything to Me"

In a conversation with journalists at Freedom Square, former Deputy Police Chief Valery Osipyan stated that it is possible to prevent the loss of the rest of the homeland, nothing is impossible.

Commenting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that the war could have been prevented, but the situation would have been the same—with no casualties—and regarding the question of whether such a statement should be followed by a legal process, Osipyan said: "A serious approach is needed here; law enforcement must understand this, and parents who have lost children must take this into consideration."

Speaking about the use of force by the police against participants of the demonstration yesterday at Freedom Square and the restrictions on free movement, Osipyan noted: "I consider it unacceptable to restrict the free movement of deputies and citizens in general. I urge my former colleagues to act solely within the law and remember that those who execute wrongful orders will eventually account for their actions. In 2018, there were instances when I asked my colleagues to avoid persecutions resulting from their actions."

Addressing the discussions surrounding a video from the 2018 revolution in which Nikol Pashinyan is seen receiving a document, Osipyan remarked: "I want to address this and close the topic once and for all; I have seen that video many times, and no one has passed anything to me. I am not aware of what it is about; I am answering with complete honesty. Perhaps there will come a time when we will clarify who passed what to whom, but for now, I state what I know."
