‘Even if Pashinyan comes and shouts, “Nikol, step down,” we will let him stand’ - Karin Tonoyan
The 5165 movement and public figures Edgar Ghazaryan and Avetik Chalabyan will hold a press conference on April 19 at 12:00 PM in Freedom Square to commence their ongoing actions to achieve the removal of Nikol Pashinyan.
Also participating in a protest in Freedom Square since yesterday is Arthur Vanetsyan, the head of the ‘Honorary’ faction in the National Assembly.
In an interview with ArmDaily.am, the leader of the ‘5165 movement,’ Karin Tonoyan, stated that they are not organizing a rally tomorrow, but only a press conference where they will present their upcoming actions.
When asked if they would join Arthur Vanetsyan, Tonoyan replied, 'We are coming out against Nikol’s regime, and if other forces join this struggle, let them join. We are fighting from our place and not teaming up with anyone. Vanetsyan is fighting from his place, and we from ours. If that struggle is for the same goal, let it lead to victory. Even if Nikol Pashinyan comes, stands in the square, and shouts, “Nikol, step down,” we will let him stand too. We urge everyone to unite and come out with all our strength to free our country from this evil. I believe they will neither join us nor we them; rather, the idea will unite the entire people, and we do not decide who is who among the people.'
Tonoyan emphasized that their initiative is beginning not as a political force but is uniting people who are concerned about the fate of the homeland and are aware of the dangers. 'We are absolutely not presenting ourselves as a political force; we will clarify that more clearly tomorrow, and it will become more apparent. We will announce point by point who we are, why we are coming out, and what we will do. All questions will be answered. We must fill the squares to gather that critical mass to solve the issue,' said Tonoyan.
