The fire source aboard the 'Moskva' cruiser has been contained, reports the Russian Defense Ministry.

"The fire source on the 'Moskva' cruiser has been isolated, and there are no open fire sources. Explosions of ammunition have been halted," the statement said.

The ministry also noted that the cruiser maintains its buoyancy, and its main missile armament has not been damaged.

"The crew of the cruiser has been evacuated to other ships of the Black Sea Fleet nearby," the statement added.

Currently, steps are being taken to transport the cruiser to port. The causes of the fire outbreak are being investigated.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that a fire broke out on the 'Moskva' missile cruiser, with explosions of military munitions recorded.
