Kremlin on the Decisions Made by Pashinyan and Aliyev in Brussels
The Kremlin positively evaluates the decision made by the authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan to start peaceful negotiations in Brussels. This was announced today by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President.
“It’s a positive development. It is clear that this is a very long-term process, but progress towards the signing of such a document is in itself a positive fact and is commendable,” Peskov said, according to TASS.
As a result of more than four hours of negotiations in Brussels yesterday, Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev agreed to create a bilateral commission on the delimitation of borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan by the end of April, which will also be empowered to ensure security and stability along the border. The leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan also instructed their foreign ministers to begin preparatory work for peace negotiations between the two countries.
European Council President Charles Michel, who facilitated and participated in the talks, assessed the meeting as “excellent and very effective.”
