Russian-Ukrainian Talks Begin in Istanbul

On the morning of March 29, negotiations between delegations from Russia and Ukraine commenced in Istanbul with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, according to РИА новости. Footage from the beginning of the meeting is being broadcast by Russia Today.

As reported by Anadolu Agency, the talks are being held at the Dolmabahçe Palace. Before the negotiations began, Erdoğan addressed the participants with a brief speech. He expressed hope that these talks would contribute to a personal meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine and stated that Turkey is ready to host such a meeting within its territory.

Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey is "deeply concerned" about the situation surrounding Ukraine and has called for a ceasefire. The agreement to hold negotiations in Istanbul was reached during a phone conversation between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Interfax reported.
