US Secretary of State and Aliyev Discuss Peace Talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Aliyev yesterday, April 5. This was announced by State Department spokesperson Ned Price.
The Secretary encouraged the process of peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the scheduled meeting between President Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan on April 6 with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.
“He reiterated that the United States is ready to assist by engaging with bilateral and like-minded partners, including through its role as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, to help the countries find a long-term comprehensive peace,” the statement said.
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a phone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Pashinyan and Blinken addressed the developments occurring in the South Caucasus, as well as the rising tensions around Nagorno-Karabakh.
