Brutal Murder Uncovered in Martuni: Body Found Completely Naked with Knife Wounds

Today, on April 5, law enforcement officials from the Gegharkunik regional department of the Armenian Police have uncovered a case of particularly brutal murder that occurred in Gegharkunik province.

According to shamshyan.com, on April 4, the relatives of 55-year-old Kamo A. from Martuni city approached the police, reporting that he had left home and had not returned, expressing suspicions that something might have happened to him.

Hours later, the police received operational information indicating that Kamo A. had encountered 24-year-old Hakob A. from Gegharkunik province. Shorty thereafter, the police located Hakob A., who was invited for questioning at the Martuni police station. Under pressure from the facts, he not only confessed to the crime but also pointed out to the police and investigators the location where he had killed his victim with approximately eight knife wounds.

A forensic expert examined the body at the scene and reported that there were around eight sharp cutting-stabbing marks on the victim's body. Currently, forensic experts and an investigative team established by the head of the regional investigative department, A. Baghdasaryan, are working at the scene.

Several citizens gathered nearby refused to talk on camera but shared, “We had been searching for Kamo, who was engaged in currency exchange in Martuni, since yesterday. Not only us, but over 50 police officers from the region and Martuni had been looking for him. To be honest, not only in the city of Martuni but also in neighboring villages and forests were we searching. Well, since he was doing business locally, we thought he might have gone to other provinces or to Yerevan. But there was some suspicion on our part that he had definitely been murdered since he had more than 1 million in cash. Frankly, we did not believe that the police would uncover this brutal murder so quickly. We found out that they caught that bastard. And the evidence was so strong that under pressure, he confessed. We also heard that he committed the murder near the Martuni hospital in his Opel and disposed of the body about 1 kilometer away in the woods near a public swimming area.

How low can a person be to undress the victim completely and hide the clothes after the murder? Bravo to the police for even finding the clothes. They even found out what he did with the stolen money. He used it to pay off his debts. Those people were also discovered by the police together with the investigator. Now, if we see a lynch trial against him, we’ll be accused. But we are not taking that step, because we saw how quickly the police caught him. And we are confident that he will be punished to the fullest extent of the law. We even hope he will be sentenced to life imprisonment.”

A criminal case has been initiated at the Martuni investigative department under the features of Part 2 of Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code. By the investigator's decision, Hakob A. has been arrested.
