Avinyan to be the candidate for Yerevan Mayor from Civil Contract Party: Vahagn Aleksanyan
The Civil Contract Party has decided that former Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan will lead the party's list in the upcoming local elections in Yerevan and will be the candidate for mayor. This was stated by Vahagn Aleksanyan, the public relations coordinator of the ruling party, in an interview with ‘Azatutyun’.
“Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan has said that discussions have taken place with Tigran Avinyan, but a final agreement has not yet been reached. If this happens, Avinyan will be appointed as Yerevan's Deputy Mayor and will head the electoral list,” Aleksanyan responded to this inquiry. “However, it is very important to emphasize that for now, our mayor is Hrachya Sargsyan, and the Civil Contract Party fully supports him in his work. There is also a decision regarding Mr. Avinyan that he is to soon become the Deputy Mayor of Yerevan, and we will all see that in the near future.”
“But it is very important to stress that at this moment the mayor is Hrachya Sargsyan, and the entire team supports him in his work, while Tigran Avinyan will lead our electoral list in the next elections,” the public relations coordinator of the Civil Contract stated.
The Yerevan city council elections are set to take place next year.
