Peskov Denies Statement That Russia Should Target Azerbaijan's Oil Industry
The statement made by Mikhail Delyagin, a member of the "Just Russia" faction, suggesting that Russia should strike at Azerbaijan's oil industry due to attempts to open a second front in Nagorno-Karabakh, does not reflect the official stance of Moscow. This was announced by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of Vladimir Putin, as reported by TASS.
Recalling Delyagin's remarks during a live broadcast on "Russia 24," he claimed that Azerbaijan, acting as a Turkish proxy and quasi-state, is trying to open a second front in Nagorno-Karabakh at the behest of the West. Delyagin stated that Russia's response should be strict and clear, posing a rhetorical question: "Who even needs Azerbaijani oil production?"
