Zelensky on the Willingness of European Countries to Aid Ukraine
The President of Ukraine has given an interview to the Economist, discussing the willingness of European countries to assist Ukraine. Zelensky sharply criticized French President Emmanuel Macron for not providing military aid to Ukraine. "Because they are afraid of Russia, and that's it," Zelensky said.
British Prime Minister Johnson, according to Zelensky, is much more active in sending weapons, as the British largely support Ukraine. "Yes. To be honest, Johnson is the leader who helps the most. Britain is definitely on our side. He is not trying to balance things out. Britain sees no alternative exit from the situation. Britain wants Ukraine to win and Russia to lose. But I am not ready to say whether Britain wants to prolong the war or not," Zelensky stated.
Germany, according to Zelensky, is waiting and trying to find a balance. "They have a long-standing relationship with Russia, view the situation through the prism of the economy, occasionally provide assistance, and I think they are trying to adapt to the evolving situation, also looking at how the situation affects their own country," Zelensky added.
It is worth noting that on the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation for the demilitarization of Ukraine.
