VIDEO: Seyran Ohanyan on the Situation in Artsakh
There are no conditions for peaceful coexistence with Azerbaijan today, and pursuing peace without preconditions and a correct assessment of the situation is unacceptable for the Armenian side. This was stated by Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the 'Armenia' parliamentary faction, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly.
“If we think that the adversary will not strive for the realization of its main goals, that is, the depopulation of the Armenian population of Artsakh, it is definitely not the case, because anyone who knows the Turk must understand that there is a cunning Turkish-Azerbaijani strategy that the naive authorities of Armenia do not grasp, and neither do the authorities of Artsakh,” said Seyran Ohanyan.
The former Minister of Defense noted that the adversary is implementing its long-term objectives through various pressures, attempting to occupy strategically important heights and geographical positions through tactical moves, to later exert pressure on the people of Artsakh from those areas.
Ohanyan also emphasized that he considers the measures taken by the Armenian authorities so far unacceptable. “I believe that serious cooperation should have been carried out between Armenia, Russia, all the divisions of the peacekeeping forces in Artsakh, and regarding Azerbaijan as well. All existing problems in the army should have been clarified, and all breaches should have been closed,” said Seyran Ohanyan, adding that this indicates that the authorities of Armenia and Artsakh have not yet realized what kind of security environment exists around Armenia and Artsakh and have not made timely decisions.
“The current authorities are undoubtedly responsible for today’s situation, and the residents of Artsakh should demand from their authorities that urgent measures be taken,” Ohanyan stated.
