71% Believe the U.S. is Moving in the 'Wrong Direction': Americans on Biden's Performance

President Joe Biden's job approval rating continues to decline, with only 40% of Americans approving of his performance, according to NBC News survey results. This marks the lowest rating of Biden's presidency.

The overwhelming majority of Americans believe the country is moving in the wrong direction. A total of 71% of survey participants stated that they think the nation is 'headed in the wrong direction.'

'This survey indicates that President Biden and the Democrats are facing disastrous elections ahead,' said Bill McInturff, a Republican pollster from Public Opinions Strategy, who conducted the survey in collaboration with Democrat Jeff Horwitt from Hart Research Associates.

The survey included 1,000 adults, 790 of whom were registered voters. Historically, the political party of incumbent presidents tends to lose seats in both the House of Representatives and the Senate during midterm elections. In the November 2022 elections, 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats are at risk.

The Democrats hold a slim majority in the House of Representatives by just 12 votes. They control the Senate only thanks to the decisive vote of Vice President Kamala Harris.
