"Azerbaijan's Aggression is Not the Result of Agreements with Artsakh" - Expanded Session of the Security Council Held in Artsakh
The President of the Republic of Artsakh, Araik Harutyunyan, convened an expanded meeting of the Security Council on March 27. Welcoming the attendees, the head of state stated:
“During the previous session of the Security Council, we made decisions, including an appeal to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to exert efforts through the peacekeeping force stationed in Artsakh to ensure the return of the adversary to its original positions and to maintain peace. In this respect, the response from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on March 26 is very welcome. It was also crucial that other co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group addressed the situation, as well as the active work of our partners in Armenia. As you know, to stabilize the situation, there have been telephone discussions between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Russia, and between the Ministers of Defense of Armenia and Russia, followed by a phone call between the Ministers of Defense of Russia and Azerbaijan. In other words, interested and responsible countries, assessing the situation, have carried out their mediation mission,” said President Harutyunyan.
Addressing public and political circles that have speculated that Azerbaijan's recent aggression is a result of certain agreements with the authorities of Artsakh, the president characterized these claims as provocative and divisive: “Our one and only agreement is the implementation of the points of the trilateral declaration; there can be no other agreements. Therefore, such provocative statements aim to divert us from real issues, unity, and to divide society. Not only can there be no agreements, but no decisions will be made without discussions with the Security Council or the expanded composition of it,” stated the President.
Following this, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh, Kamo Vardanyan, presented a report on the latest military-political developments in the country. Questions regarding appropriate measures in the created situation were reiterated during the meeting. President Harutyunyan provided a series of instructions.
