Luhansk Liberated 93% of Its Territory, Donetsk 54%: Russian Ministry of Defense
The main tasks of the first phase have generally been accomplished, allowing the focus to shift to the primary objective of liberating Donbas. This statement was made today by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov.
“The military special operation launched on February 24 disrupted the large-scale offensive of Ukrainian troops against the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics under the control of Kyiv. This allowed for the saving of tens, if not hundreds of thousands of civilians in Donbas, who have been periodically shelled by the Kyiv regime over the past eight years,” he stated.
Konashenkov noted that the Luhansk People's Republic has liberated 93% of its territory, while the Donetsk People's Republic has liberated 54% of its territory. He added that the military special operation in Ukraine has assisted in thwarting the large-scale offensive of Ukrainian troops on the Donbas Republic, which was planned for March.
