VIDEO: "We have offered Azerbaijan to withdraw several positions from our territory, and we will also withdraw from theirs," says Pashinyan

The situation in the world and the region is tense, and we consider ourselves responsible for reducing that tension and finding fundamental solutions to the issue, said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at today’s government meeting.

He stated that peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan should begin as soon as possible. "Moreover, it is necessary to also note the need to accelerate the work on delimitation and demarcation of borders, alongside measures that would increase security and stability at the border. You know, of course, that we have proposed a mirrored withdrawal of troops from the border based on the de jure established border line between Armenia and Azerbaijan from the Soviet era," Pashinyan said.

However, he emphasized that in addition to a complete withdrawal, Armenia has also presented proposals for local withdrawals and is awaiting Azerbaijan's response in this regard. "In particular, in the Yeraskh area, we have proposed that they withdraw several positions from our territory, and we will also withdraw several positions from their territory, thus addressing one of the hottest points from the last year and a half from both sides. As I said, we are waiting for Azerbaijan's response. By the way, after a series of recent events, we still haven't understood whether Azerbaijan wants the opening of regional communications or not. If they do, our proposals remain valid, and we are ready to proceed with their implementation at any moment, literally at any moment. I have mentioned the Armenian junction project several times; I don’t see the need to elaborate now," the Prime Minister announced.
