Snow, Blizzard, Black Ice: Current Situation on the Roads
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in the territory of Armenia. Due to weather conditions, it is advised to travel only when absolutely necessary.
The following roads are closed: in Aragatsotn Province, the roads from the "Amberd" high mountainous meteorological station to the Amberd fortress and Kari lake, the Berd-Chambarak road, the Saravan-Zanger section (blizzard), the intercommunity roads in the Aragats region of Aragatsotn Province (blizzard), the Alagyaz-Artik road, the "Zuygaghbyur" section of the Gyumri-Bavra road in Shirak Province, the Amasia-Ashotsk road, and the Fantan-Jraber roads in Kotayk Province.
The Vardenyats Pass, Sisian-Zanger, and Kapan-Tatev-Goris roads in Syunik Province are closed for trucks with trailers and difficult to pass for other types of vehicles. The Gndevaz-Jermuk road in Vayots Dzor Province is closed for trucks, and difficult to navigate for other vehicles.
All roads in Syunik Province are difficult to navigate, as well as the Vanadzor-Dilijan, Vanadzor-Alaverdi roads in Lori Province, the Amasia-Gyumri-Kaps road in Shirak Province, the Artik-Mets Mantash road, and the Alagyaz-Tsilkhar road in Aragatsotn Province.
The Nairi-Abovyan road in Kotayk Province has black ice in some areas. It is snowing in Yerevan, as well as in Syunik, Kotayk, Tavush, Armavir, Aragatsotn, Gegharkunik, and Lori provinces. There is a blizzard in the regions of Ashotik and Amasia in Shirak Province, and in Jermuk of Vayots Dzor Province.
Regarding Lars: According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to travel only with winter tires.
