Shoigu is not responding to Pentagon calls, The Washington Post

The Pentagon has reported that in the last 7-10 days, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley have made multiple attempts to establish contact with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, but they have not responded.

This was reported by The Washington Post. It is noted that there have been communications, but at a low level through the military attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.

The hotlines established specifically to resolve potential conflicts in airspace have not yet been utilized for their intended purpose.
