Poland Blocks Russian Embassy's Bank Accounts

The authorities of Poland have blocked the bank accounts of the Russian embassy in Warsaw, citing the possibility of "money laundering and terrorism financing." This was announced on Thursday by Sergey Andreyev, the Russian ambassador to Poland, during an appearance on Russian TV channel "Perviy Kanal," according to TASS.

"Our accounts were blocked by a decision of the Ministry of Finance, and then by a decision of the prosecutor's office of Poland, arguing that the funds received from our accounts could allegedly be used for money laundering or financing terrorism," he said.

Andreyev noted that the Polish authorities have not responded to questions about the specific demands made of the expelled Russian diplomats. "My questions have not been answered. They simply invoked the Vienna Convention, and so on," the diplomat stated.
