G7 Calls on OPEC to Increase Oil and Gas Production to Reduce Dependence on Russia

The G7 has urged OPEC and other oil and gas producing countries to increase energy resource supply in the global market to decrease Western countries' reliance on Russia. This was stated in the final communiqué of the G7 summit, which took place today at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

“We are taking steps to reduce our dependence on Russian energy sources and will work together in this direction. Meanwhile, we will ensure reliable alternative and sustainable supplies and will act in the spirit of solidarity and close coordination in the event of potential supply disruptions. We commit to actively support those countries that wish to gradually eliminate their dependence on Russian gas, oil, and coal imports,” the communiqué stated.
