Man Injures Himself at Stepanavan Medical Center

Investigations are underway at the Stepanavan Police Department regarding an incident of hooliganism that took place on March 21 at the "Stepanavan" medical center. On that day, a community police officer received information that around 16:00, a resident of Yerevan, surgeon Armen Poghosyan of the medical center, along with nurse Meline Saghanyan, resident of Lori province, intern Varduhi Gishyan, nurse Susanna Yeghiazaryan, head nurse Narine Tamaryan, and emergency doctor Hayk Khachatryan were obstructed in their professional duties.

The assailant, Gagik Gyozalyan, a resident of Lori province, displayed aggressive behavior under the influence of alcohol. He directed insults of a sexual nature toward the medical staff for about 30 minutes, thus demonstrating open disrespect for the healthcare workers and interfering with their regular work.

According to G. Shamshyan’s information, G. Gyozalyan was admitted to the medical center diagnosed with "delirium tremens, chronic alcoholism stage 2," and on that day, he also inflicted self-harm in the presence of doctors. This was reported to the police by the medical center.

G. Gyozalyan has since been released from Stepanavan Police Department.
