Armed Robbery in Yerevan: Suspect Arrested
On March 21, an armed robbery occurred in Yerevan involving an object resembling a weapon. At approximately 03:40, a call was received by the Central Police Department from a resident of Yerevan, A. M., who reported that a man armed with a weapon had threatened and stolen money and cigarettes from one of the shops on Moskovyan Street.
According to Shamshyan.com, police and investigators determined that between 02:25 and 02:30 the same day, an unidentified young man approached the commercial kiosk at the mentioned address, displayed an object resembling a weapon to the employee, and demanded money and cigarettes. After being refused, the robber stole about 23 thousand drams and cigarettes and fled the scene.
Reports indicate that law enforcement identified the suspect as 24-year-old Samson Ghukasyan, a resident of Yerevan. Following explanatory discussions by the police, the suspect voluntarily presented himself to the Central Police Department, after which he was transferred to the investigative department, where he was arrested based on the investigator's decision.
The police and investigative department suspect that he may have committed similar acts, and efforts are underway to clarify the situation.
