Blocked Roads and Black Ice: Situation on the Roads

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that there are blocked and impassable roads in the territory of Armenia. Due to the weather conditions, it is advised to travel only when absolutely necessary.

Blocked roads are in the Aragatsotn region: from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and the Stone Lake, the Vardenyats Pass, Berd-Jambarak, Vayots Dzor region's Vayk-Jermuk, Gndevaz-Jermuk, Ararat region's Lanjarr-Lusahogh, Shirak region's Mets Alagyaz-Artik, Artik-Mantash, Tsoghamarg-Bavra, and inter-community roads of Amasiya and Ashotq are blocked.

The Vayk-Sisian-Goris-Kapan road is closed for trucks and difficult for passenger vehicles (accessible only in one direction).

Vanadzor-Dilijan, in the Lori region, the Vanadzor-Alaverdi, and Tavush region's roads from Ijevan to Bagratashen and Noyemberyan-Kirants are closed for trucks with trailers and difficult for other types of vehicles.

The Lori region’s Spitak and Stepanavan twists, Alaverdi-Jiliza and Tashir-Blagodatnoye, as well as Syunik region’s, Aragatsotn's Aparan, Talin, the Shirak region’s Maralik, and Lanjik inter-community roads are difficult for all types of vehicles.

In some places, there is black ice on the roads in Aragatsotn region. In the cities of Kapan, Kajaran, Meghri in Syunik region, Vanadzor in Lori region, Chambarak in Gegharkunik region, and Dilijan in Tavush region, snow is falling.

There is a blizzard on the road from Aragats to Ashotq, Artik, Maralik, and Amasiya regions, as well as on the Hovuni-Jajur-Kaps-Keti road.

Regarding Lars, according to information received from the Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs Emergency Department and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations's North Ossetia crisis management center, the Stepanstminda-Lars road is closed for trucks and open for passenger vehicles. There are about 400 trucks on the Russian side. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
