Video: Papikyan Visits Syunik, Tours Military Units with Fatal Incidents
On March 17, Armenia's Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan made a working visit to the Syunik province. According to the Ministry of Defense, during a meeting with officers at one of the military units, the minister addressed the recent incidents recorded in military units subordinate to the military command.
Suren Papikyan emphasized that the occurrences were a result of issues related to discipline in certain divisions, as well as the moral and psychological inadequacies of some servicemen.
After listening to reports from responsible officers about the incidents, the head of the defense department provided directives and instructions to the commander of the military unit to take necessary measures aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.
During the working visit, Suren Papikyan also visited the border zone adjacent to the Nerkhin Hand community, where the commander of the military unit, Major General Artak Budaghyan, presented the situation in that area.
The Minister of Defense also visited the construction site of a renovated military unit to familiarize himself with the progress of the construction work.
