Snow, Closed Roads: What is the Situation on the Roads

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in the Republic of Armenia.

The roads from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station in Aragatsotn province to the Amberd fortress and Kar lake are closed. The Berd-Chambarak road is also closed.

The Dilijan bends and the Djughevan-Voskepar-Koti road are closed for trucks.

The Vardenyats pass is closed for trucks with trailers and is difficult to navigate for other trucks, while it remains passable for other types of vehicles.

There are patches of black ice on the roads in the Aragats and Aparan regions of Aragatsotn province, and on the Aghvan-Verrin Khotanan road in Syunik province.

Snowfall has been reported in the Dilijan bends, Tavush, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik provinces; in the Saravan-“Zanger” section; as well as in the Talin, Aragats, and Aparan areas of Aragatsotn province, in the Ashotzk and Amasia regions of Shirak province, and in Martuni, Gavar, Sevan, Vanadzor, and Step'anavan of Lori province.

Regarding the Lars situation, according to information received from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s North Ossetia crisis management center, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for trucks, with approximately 350 trucks stranded on the Russian side. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
