Macron Calls for Preparedness for Potential Armed Conflict
French President Emmanuel Macron stated during a campaign event in Paris that the country must be prepared for high-intensity warfare that could return to the European continent. According to rbc.ru, Macron emphasized in his speech that by 2025, France's defense budget will reach 50 billion euros, while it currently stands at just over 40 billion euros.
“Our forces are the only fully-fledged army on the European continent. We need to increase investments to be ready for potential high-intensity armed conflicts that may arise on our continent,” said the French leader.
He also announced plans to double the number of reservists in the armed forces and increase the personnel in the police and gendarmerie, without providing further details.
