Killed and then told the police it was an 'unfortunate incident': what happened in Gyumri

On March 18, a significant investigation by the Shirak Regional Police revealed the circumstances surrounding the mysterious death of a 30-year-old man in Gyumri that occurred on March 16.

According to shamshyan.com, an autopsy concluded that the body of Vazgen Yangyan, discovered in a city landfill, showed signs of a stab wound to the left thigh, abrasions on the right occipital region, and scratches on the upper third of the right thigh and upper third of the right shin.

It was also determined that Yangyan's left femoral artery was damaged, which, according to the forensic expert, was the cause of his death.

On the same day, the Mush Police Department received a call from 62-year-old Ashot Manukyan, a resident of Gyumri, who claimed that Yangyan had been searching for colored metals in the landfill and got buried under a mound of dirt. He stated he had witnessed the entire incident.

Subsequently, Ashot Manukyan was taken to the Mush Police Department on suspicion of murder and has been arrested for the crime.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Shirak Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia under Article 104, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
