Stunt-like Car Accident in Yerevan: Rescuers Use Special Ropes to Extract Passengers
Today, on March 17, a stunt-like car accident occurred in Yerevan. Around 2:00 AM, a 41-year-old resident of Kotayk province, G. Simonyan, lost control of his Mercedes vehicle while in the Hrazdan gorge, crashing into basalt curbs and ending up in the Hrazdan River.
According to shamshyan.com from the scene, both G. Simonyan and his passenger, 21-year-old K. Arustamyan from Yerevan, were transported to the Armenia Medical Center for medical assistance.
Rescuers employed special ropes to retrieve the driver and passenger from the river. Police officers assisted the rescuers, and while they were helping those stranded in the river, G. Simonyan allegedly behaved inappropriately, hurling insults at the rescuers, police, and medical staff while they silently carried out their professional duties.
It took nearly two hours to extract them from the river. Medical personnel provided first aid on-site before transporting them to the hospital.
The driver was subjected to a sobriety test, confirming he was under the influence.
