Moldovan President Makes Demands to Russia

The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, has commented on the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to recognize Transnistria as an area occupied by Russia. Sandu stated that the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria has always been demanded.

According to her, PACE's decision is linked to the situation created in Ukraine.

It should be noted that on March 15, PACE adopted a resolution recognizing that Russia has occupied Transnistria, which is considered a part of Moldova. This is the first time Transnistria has been recognized as an occupied territory at such a high level. Previously, the Council of Europe referred to it as 'effectively under the control of the Russian Federation.'
