Blizzard, Snow, Black Ice: Difficult and Closed Roads in the Republic
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in the territory of Armenia.
Closed are the roads from the "Amberd" high mountainous meteorological station in Aragatson Province to the Amberd fortress, as well as the roads leading to Kār Lake.
The Vardenyats Pass and Berd-Jambarak road are closed to all types of vehicles.
In Lori Province, the roads from Vanadzor to Dilijan, from Vanadzor to Yerevan, from Vanadzor to Gyumri, and from Vanadzor to Stepanavan, as well as the roads in Tavush Province including the Dilijan serpentine and the Jujvan-Zoskepar-Koti road, are difficult for trucks with trailers.
In Syunik Province, the sections known as "Mekhru Sar" and "Zanger" are difficult for trucks with trailers; other vehicles can only pass with the use of tire chains.
The section of the M-2 road leading to Jermuk city from the Saravan-Zanger region (black ice), the roads from Aragatson Province to Chknagh-Ttujur-Dzoraglukh, the Shirak Province roads from Amasia to Gyumri, Amasia to Tsoghamarg, Amasia to Berdashen, Tavushut to Ardevis, and Syunik Province's Sisian-Zanger and Goris-Tatev roads are difficult to navigate.
In the regions of Aragatsotn Province, including Aragats, Aparan, and Talin, as well as in Shirak and Gegharkunik Provinces, there are patches of black ice on all roads.
Snow is falling in Syunik Province, and there is a blizzard in the regions of Ashotzk and Amasia in Shirak Province.
Regarding Lars, according to information received from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs' Emergency Management Department and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies of North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open to all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
