U.S. Secretary of State Calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan
The U.S. State Department has released a press statement regarding a phone conversation between U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, where it was specifically stated: “Secretary Blinken spoke today with Prime Minister Pashinyan of Armenia. The Secretary emphasized the ongoing importance of U.S.-Armenia bilateral partnership and the U.S. commitment to promoting a peaceful, democratic, and prosperous future in the South Caucasus.”
“Noting recent reports of increased tensions between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces, the Secretary urged both parties to exercise restraint and to intensify diplomatic engagement to find comprehensive solutions to all existing issues. The Secretary also encouraged continued democratic reforms in Armenia.”
“The Secretary reaffirmed the commitment to holding the U.S. and other partners accountable, including Moscow and its allies, such as the Lukashenko regime in Belarus, for the Kremlin’s unprovoked and unjustified war against Ukraine.”
