Ukraine Cannot Join NATO, Its People are Starting to Understand This – Zelensky's Statement
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Kyiv has been made aware that it cannot join NATO. According to him, the Ukrainian people are also beginning to understand this.
As reported by RBK-Ukraine, this was mentioned during his announcement at the Joint Expeditionary Force conference.
"It's clear that Ukraine is not a NATO member. We are adequate people and we understand. For years we have heard about the so-called open door, but we have also heard that we cannot enter. And that is true, and we must accept it. I am glad that our people are starting to understand this and putting their hope in themselves and our partners who help us," he said.
Recall that on the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation for the demilitarization of Ukraine. In a televised address, he stated that the circumstances "require decisive and immediate actions from us, and the people's republics of Donbas have appealed to Russia for aid." According to the Russian leader, all responsibility for the bloodshed will fall on the conscience of the ruling regime in Ukraine. He called on Ukrainian soldiers not to follow the criminal orders of the Ukrainian authorities, to lay down their arms, and go home.
In response, the West imposed new anti-Russian sanctions. In particular, several major banks, including Sberbank and VTB, were included in this list. The European Union, the USA, Canada, and several other countries closed their skies to Russian aircraft. Access to foreign capital has become complicated for a number of state-owned companies. Sanctions were imposed on the supply of high-tech goods to Russia.
