The Situation Has Been Tense Recently: Deputy Minister of Defense

Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sarkisyan assured reporters today that the adversary has not entered the sovereign territory of Armenia. “I can’t specify a particular location; the situation has been tense recently, and we can describe it as stably tense, because since the night of the 13th-14th and today as well, although we haven’t had serious problems, the situation continues to remain tense. The tension is not about Syunik; it is in the Artsakh region, but measures are being taken to prevent potential escalation through negotiations and other actions,” he said.

Addressing the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh, Arman Sarkisyan noted that these actions by the Azerbaijani side aim to create a general panic, an atmosphere of fear, and initiate a process of depopulation. “Steps are being taken to maintain the tense situation. As of this morning, I can say that the situation is stable. Our units are vigilant, monitoring the situation, and will implement preventive measures if necessary,” he stated.

To the question of whether he sees a danger of broader military operations in Artsakh, the deputy minister replied: “I cannot exclude any provocation; no one can rule it out. In connection with geopolitical changes, possible provocations or actions may be undertaken by the adversary, but I can assure you that no aggressive actions are being carried out on our part,” said the Deputy Minister of Defense.
