Blizzard, Black Ice, Closed Roads: Situation in the Republic

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that there are closed and difficult-to-pass roads in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

The roads from the "Amberd" mountain meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to Amberd Fortress and leading to Kari Lake are closed.

The Vardenyats Pass, Berd-Jambarak, and the Aragatsotn Province's Chknagh-Ttujur-Dzoraglukh roads are closed for all types of vehicles.

The section called Saravan-"Zanger" (blizzard, black ice), the Dilijan serpentine roads, the Jujevan-Voskepar-Koti road, and the section leading to the city of Jermuk from the M-2 highway are closed for trailer trucks, and difficult to pass for other vehicles.

The areas named "Meghru Sar" and "Zanger" in Syunik Province are difficult to pass for trailer trucks, but accessible for other vehicles only with the use of snow chains.

In the Gegharkunik Province, the Aragatsotn Province’s Talin, Aragats, and Aparan regions, the Lori Province's Vanadzor-Dilijan, Vanadzor-Yerevan, Vanadzor-Gyumri, Vanadzor-Stepanavan, Shirak Province's Jajuravan-Mets Sariar, Amasia-Berdashen, Tavshut-Ardenis, and in Syunik Province's Sisian-"Zanger", Goris-Tatev roads are difficult to pass.

In the Aragatsotn Province’s Aragats, Aparan, and Talin regions, as well as on all roads in Shirak Province, there is black ice in places.

It is snowing throughout the Republic (except for the provinces of Ararat, Armavir, Tavush, Shirak, and Kotayk). There is a blizzard in the regions of Ashtarak and Amasia in Shirak Province.

Regarding Lars, according to the information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia's Emergency Management Department and the Russian Federation's North Ossetia Crisis Management Center, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
