Snow, Closed and Difficult Roads: The Situation in Armenia
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed and difficult roads in the territory of Armenia. The roads leading from the "Amberd" high-altitude meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to Amberd Fortress and the Stone Lake are closed.
The Vardenyats Pass and the Berd-Jambarak road are closed for all types of vehicles. The Dilijan serpentine is closed for trucks and difficult to navigate for other vehicles.
The Saravan-"Zanger" and Jermuk-Gndevaz roads are closed for tractor-trailer trucks, and difficult to navigate for other vehicles. The Mdzek Sariar-Krashen-Lernut-Jajur road is closed.
In Syunik Province, the Tatev road is closed for trucks, and the Spitak serpentine in Lori Province, as well as the roads to Stepanavan and Alaverdi cities, are difficult to navigate. All roads in Gegharkunik and Syunik provinces are difficult to navigate.
In the Saravan-"Zanger" area (blizzard, fog), in the city of Goris in Syunik Province and in the area known as "Megri Mountain," as well as in Lori, Tavush, and Ararat provinces (excluding Ararat city), heavy snowfall is reported in the municipalities of Hrazdan, Charentsavan in Kotayk Province, Martuni, Gavar, and Jambarak in Gegharkunik Province, and Talin, Aparan, and Aragats regions in Aragatsotn Province.
In Shirak Province, there are blizzards on the Sisian-"Zanger" road and the Spitak serpentine in Lori Province.
According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles due to the danger of snowdrifts. There are approximately 380 trucks and 97 passenger vehicles on the Russian side waiting.
