Emergency Situation in Aragatsotn Province: Multiple Vehicles Collide, Several Injured Including Senior Investigator

An emergency situation has arisen in Aragatsotn Province for several hours. Due to heavy snowfall and the lack of road maintenance, several vehicles have collided on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway, specifically on the large bridge in Ashtarak.

As a result of the accidents, several individuals have been hospitalized, some of whom were escorted there by traffic police. According to Shamshyan.com, while investigators were conducting an on-site examination, another chain collision occurred due to icy conditions on the road. One of the damaged vehicles struck a traffic police service Corolla and subsequently hit Senior Investigator A. Agajanyan.

A. Agajanyan has been transported to the "Ashtarak" medical center. Following these incidents, investigators from the Aragatsotn regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee are set to arrive at the scene by order of the regional prosecutor. The police are working to identify the drivers and the injured.

Drivers gathered at the scene expressed their frustration, stating: "What is happening here—it's as if the dog does not recognize its owner. Is this how one shows such disrespect and irresponsible attitude towards their work? The officials responsible for this road maintenance should be punished. Over 10 vehicles were involved in accidents due to the icy road, but the drivers negotiated among themselves, didn’t wait for the insurance company, and left with their cars…"

A photojournalist reports that the road maintenance crew arrived only about an hour after the accidents.
