Will the US Launch Military Operations Against Russia? Biden Clarifies
The United States is not planning to initiate military operations against Russia in Ukraine, but will defend NATO allies' territories if necessary. This was stated by US President Joe Biden during a speech at the White House on Friday.
"We are not going to war against Russia in Ukraine. A direct confrontation between NATO and Russia would be World War III, and we should not start it," said the American leader.
"However, we will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with our allies in Europe, sending a clear message: we will defend every inch of NATO territory with full strength, united and demonstrating a new energy for NATO," Biden added.
He avoided directly answering reporters' questions about whether Washington has information regarding the alleged threat of chemical weapons being used by Russia in Ukraine. "I will not discuss intelligence information, but Russia will pay a high price if it uses chemical weapons," the US President stated.
