Snow, Black Ice, Fog: Situation on Armenia's Roads
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that there are closed and difficult roads in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
The roads from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station in the Aragatsotn region to the Amberd Fortress and Lake Kari are closed. The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trucks and difficult to navigate for other vehicles.
Snowfall has been reported in the Tavush and Lori regions, the Aparan region of Aragatsotn, and in the cities of Jermuk in Vayots Dzor and Chambarak in Gegharkunik, as well as on the Saravan-Zanger road segment. In Shirak region, on the Toros village-Ashotsk, Artik-Alagyaz, in Syunik region on the Goris-Zanger road, and in the Aragatsotn region on the roads of Aragats and Aparan, there are patches of black ice.
Fog is observed in the Talin region of Aragatsotn and on the Kapan-Goris road in Syunik.
According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles. There are approximately 250 trucks waiting on the Russian side. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
