Facebook and Instagram to Allow Calls for Violence Against Russians and Russian Soldiers for Certain Users

Meta Platforms will permit users of Facebook and Instagram in "certain countries" to incite violence against Russians and Russian soldiers amid the situation in Ukraine. This was reported by 360 tv, citing Reuters.

The rule changes reportedly pertain to Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine. The media claims that moderators for Facebook and Instagram have already received the respective notices.

Later, the outlet reported that a Meta spokesperson confirmed that the company has "temporarily allowed expressions of political speech that would typically violate the ban on incitement to violence on social media." 360tv noted on its Telegram channel, “They promise, however, that ‘civilians’ will not be targeted.”

In addition, the Russian Embassy in the United States has called on American authorities to stop Meta's extremist activities. The diplomatic mission stated that the platform's actions indicate a declaration of an information war against Russia without rules.
