Russian Defense Ministry Highlights Armenian Deputy Colonel's Heroism

The Russian Defense Ministry continues to recount the heroic deeds of Russian soldiers executing the special military operation for the defense of Donetsk and Luhansk. Among these heroes are representatives from various branches of the military, all of whom are distinguished professionals in their fields.

Sergeant Sergey Gubarev, operating as a machine gunner, distinguished himself on March 4 during an operation in the Chernigov region while crossing a river. On that day, units of a separate motorized rifle brigade came under mass artillery fire from Ukrainian nationalists.

Gubarev suppressed the enemy's artillery and mortar crews with precise fire from the TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system, destroying 14 enemy weapons and military equipment and eliminating over 40 nationalists. Thanks to Gubarev's actions, the units crossed the river without sustaining losses.

Deputy Colonel Andranik Gasparyan, commander of a separate coastal defense brigade, conducted a forced march with his unit and seized control of a bridge crossing the river in the Kherson region. Through this crossing, the nationalists were preparing to transfer forces eastward.

During the day, under the command of Andranik Gasparyan, the brigade repelled the enemy's dominating forces and endured air and artillery strikes but prevented a breach of the defensive line. They successfully repelled nine assaults and destroyed 23 enemy armored vehicles.
