Humor and Criticism: The Symbol of the Anti-Corruption Committee is Received Ambivalently
The Ministry of Justice has recently presented a project to the public discussion regarding the definition of the symbol and description of the newly established Anti-Corruption Committee.
Online, the committee's symbol has been received ambivalently. In the Armenian Facebook sphere, it has sparked humorous reactions as well as criticism from users.
According to the ministry's announcement, the elements of the Anti-Corruption Committee's symbol include a lion, a sword, the flag of the Republic of Armenia, and a treasure chest: “The lion is in a standing position, with one hand raised and a sword in motion, while the other hand holds the treasure chest. The lion's mouth is open, with its tongue extended. The lion is golden in color and symbolizes strength, bravery, and power. The sword held by the lion is gray with a golden hilt and dark gray handle. The sword symbolizes the fight against corruption. The treasure chest represents the values that are to be preserved and protected. The lion is depicted at the center of a shield, outlined in blue. The overall background (the canvas) is dark blue. Above the lion, on the right side, is the waving flag of the Republic of Armenia. The dark blue symbolizes perseverance, resilience, strength, and dedication in the fight against corruption. Above the flag, the words 'Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia' are inscribed.
