Putin Promises Women Not to Send Conscripts and Reservists to War Against Ukraine

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has reiterated his promise not to involve conscript soldiers and reservists in the ongoing military operations in Ukraine. The Russian president made this statement during the official greetings for International Women's Day on March 8.

“I want to emphasize that soldiers on active combat duty are not participating and will not participate in combat operations, and there will be no additional conscription from the reserves,” he stated during the March 8 greetings.

Putin reiterated that troops have been sent to Ukraine to “defend Russia during the special military operation.”
