Medvedev 'Congratulates' European Partners on Record Gas Prices

The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, commenting on the record rise in gas prices in Europe, reminded Western officials about the decision to freeze the 'Nord Stream 2' project. According to RIA Novosti, he stated, 'I can only congratulate the far-sighted European partners who reliably protected themselves from the “sneaky Russians” and the “Nord Stream 2” project.'

Earlier, April futures for gas on the TTF index rose from $2400 per cubic meter to $3900, while on Friday, the calculated price was $2170.

Recall that on the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation aimed at the demilitarization of Ukraine. In a televised address, he stated that the circumstances 'demand decisive and immediate actions from us, as the people’s republics of Donbas have appealed to Russia for assistance.'

According to the Russian leader, the full responsibility for the bloodshed will lie on the conscience of the ruling regime in Ukraine. He called on Ukrainian soldiers not to follow the criminal orders of the Ukrainian authorities, to lay down their arms, and go home.
