Heavy Vehicles Should Be Banned From Certain Streets in Yerevan, Mayor Says

The Mayor of Yerevan, Hrachya Sargsyan, announced during a working consultation today that access for heavy vehicles should be banned on certain streets.

According to Sargsyan, these vehicles contribute to traffic congestion. As part of his proposal, violations could potentially be monitored automatically, thus eliminating the human factor.

“I believe we should establish certain legal relationships with the traffic police to carry out this work on their behalf and provide the records to the police. In this regard, we can achieve a financial proportionality, where a portion of the fixed fines would come to the community, allowing it to modernize its technical means,” he stated.
