Clean Ukraine's Sky: Zelensky's Statement

Clean Ukraine's Sky: Zelensky's Statement

Ukraine is awaiting the "cleaning of the sky" or the provision of combat aircraft and air defense systems from the West. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a video message.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had declared that Russia would consider the decision to establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine as participation in the armed conflict. In turn, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg noted that the alliance does not plan to create a no-fly zone, otherwise the conflict could spill over beyond Ukraine's borders.

"We are expecting a decision, either on the 'cleaning of the sky' or on the force you have—the provision of military aircraft and air defense systems—which will give us the necessary strength. This is assistance that the world needs to show not only to Ukraine but to itself," Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president also called for new sanctions to be imposed against Moscow, urging a boycott of Russian exports (particularly, a refusal of oil and oil products) and imports. "If the invasion continues, and Russia does not abandon its plans against Ukraine, it means a new package of sanctions is needed. New sanctions, new sanctions against the war, for peace. A boycott of Russian exports, particularly a refusal of oil and oil products from Russia, can be called an embargo. A boycott of imports from Russia," Zelensky emphasized.
