Canada Offers the US to Buy Canadian Oil Instead of Russian
Alberta's Energy Minister Sonya Savage and the region's Premier Jason Kenney have proposed that the United States purchase Canadian oil instead of Russian oil due to the situation surrounding Ukraine.
“Does the US want to replace Russian barrels with Venezuelan ones? Such a thing cannot be done with intent. Tough times demand tough decisions. A reminder of the folly of energy policy over the last decade. Canada, which ranks third in the world for largest reserves, can supply oil to the US and the globe,” Savage wrote on her Twitter account.
In turn, Kenney stated that after the lifting of sanctions, the US plans to replace the export of Russian oil with the import of resources from “Iranian and Venezuelan dictatorships.”
According to the politician, the residents of Alberta will be pleased if they host US President Joe Biden. “We can discuss the daily supply of about 1 million barrels from our closest friend and ally,” Kenney said, adding that they first need to lift the blockade of the Keystone XL pipeline at the Canada-US border.
